FAQ’s
Do you take apart all furniture?
Usually the only items we take apart in a normal house move would be beds and the legs on dining tables. Chests of Drawers, bedside tables and smaller items do not normally need to be taken apart. Wardrobes are not usually included and require a specialist handyman service for which there is an extra cost. Please speak to your move coordinator for a separate price on this.
Do you empty lofts?
Lofts need to be fully boarded and well lit. You will need to sort out what is going but we are happy to take items out as long as the access is secure. Please advise your move coordinator prior to collection.
Do you take plants?
Yes we do take plants but please let us know how many before the move as they can take up a lot of room.
Do you disconnect Washing Machines and fridges?
No. Normally all electrical items should be disconnected and washing machines should be drained. Fridges should be disconnected and defrosted at least 24 hours prior to arrival of our crews.
Do you take apart all furniture?
For a normal household move, we will disassemble and reassemble basic furniture such as beds and tables. We do not normally take apart bookcases, wardrobes or chests of drawers. Should you want to have these disassembled also, please speak to your move coordinator who will offer a handyman service for an extra charge.
What can I not ship?
Different countries vary but the list below covers all of them.
Firearms and Explosives of any kind
Hazardous chemicals such as paints and thinners
Skins or animal parts from endangered species (such as Ivory)
Food items including herbs and spices
Adult videos or literature of any kind
Alcohol
Please check with your move coordinator for a more comprehensive list for your particular destination.
Do you subcontract work?
Absolutely not. We have a strict policy to never use subcontractors, agency staff or third parties to do our work. This means that sometimes we are fully booked but we will not send someone into your home whom we have not vetted and checked to be a qualified and trained export packer. This ensures that we always have the highest standards of packing, fewer claims and happier customers.
Do I really need to choose a Bar Overseas Bonded member?
The short answer is yes. A BAR Overseas bonded member specialises in International Moving. They also have the financial guarantees in place so that in the event of their failure, your shipment will be taken over by the BAR who will ensure your items are delivered to you at the contracted price. Please do not consider moving overseas with a non Overeas Bonded Member. It would be like booking your flights with a non ABTA Travel agent.
Do I have to pay anything at the destination?
Where possible we try to include all possible charges from door to door. Certain fees are unknown. For example, if your shipment is chosen for a customs exam, we cannot predict this so any related charges will need to be paid locally. If any taxes are due, these will also need to be paid locally. Please speak to your move coordinator who will be able to give you an estimate on the possible charges due.
Can I pack myself?
It is always better to have a professional team pack your items. This will ensure that you have full insurance coverage and that everything is packed as well as possible. It will also minimise the chances of customs inspections as they are more likely to inspect owner packed shipments. However, sometimes, it is possible to request a “fragile packing” service where we will pack glassware, furniture, electronics and any breakable items.
Please speak to your move coordinator about this service.
Will insurance cover any damage?
Eagle Relocations has an outstanding record for low numbers of claims. This is due to the care our teams take to ensure that everything is well packed. However in the event that you do have any damage, you can be rest assured that the insurance policy we have offered you is the most comprehensive on the market. If we have packed your shipment and you have taken out our insurance you will be covered and our claims team will ensure that your claim is swiftly dealt with.
Is the transit time accurate?
The transit time is usually very accurate but we are sometimes dependant on customs and vessel schedules. Taking this into account 99% of the time we deliver all shipments well in advance of your quoted transit time. If the delivery date you require is critical, please advise your move coordinator who will look into possible ways to make 100% sure that your items are delivered on the exact required delivery date.
